I ran the motor up to about 190 degrees... at what temp should the fans come on?

Hopefully they're working okay. I disconnected the sensor which I found on the "gooseneck", near the radiator hose connection on the engine intake. Fans came on. I also got them to come on by jumping 12 volts through the relay connection. From another site I read that the fans do not come on until 106 C/ 223 degrees Fahrenheit.

Hope I am putting him on the road PDQ! I cranked and ran it for a while and never got over 190. Fans came on and all seems to be working fine. We're going to flush the cooling system, add antifreeze then give it a run for 30 or 40 miles before he takes off from here (near Cullman, AL) to his home near Chattanooga... crossing my fingers that he will be having good luck and praying that he does not break down after dark on some long stretch of desolate highway at night. The engine sounds and runs like new.... of course, it is... a new rebuild. THANKS for all the help I got in other threads. Planning on sending a contribution... this "step-son" experience has been a little expensive and I'm broke now and in the hole.

THANKS! I'm for sure definitely glad we got it fixed! I was worried there for a while. He made it home safely and says the car has run flawlessly and better than ever since he has owned it. Apparently I did something right!
