The starter and it turned over but still it will not start

I have a 1999 buick century i notice that when i put my key in to start it it was not taking The ding sound. So i tried to start it and it will not do i notice The car wasnt making The ding sound when u start it. so We tried to start it. But Nothing happened although The lights come on.
