Why is my S70 losing power and dying?

When driving my 1998 s70 non turbo, at freeway speeds I will fell small loses of power. The car does not stall, however it feels like it is running out of gas.

When I reduce speed and slow to an idle, say at a stop sign, it will stall. It will finally start again after trying to ignition over and over. Again, it just seems like there is no gas.

The problems are intermittent. I took it to two different Volvo mechanics and they could not reproduce the issue.

One replaced the spark plugs it did not fix the issue.

They do not get any Error codes that are generated.

Since they could not reproduce the issue, they could not say without error codes indicated what the exact problem is.

What do you think?

What would you try first, the Mass airflow sensor?

Yes, your symptoms would indicate a faulty mass air flow sensor. I would recommend you get one from the dealership. For some reason this Volvo's dont like after market spark plugs and they dont like aftermarket mass air flow sensors? But yes it does seem like your mass air flow sensor is failing.
