My 1998 Toyota Camry Xle V6 model gives a choking sensation when the gas pedal is pressed and does not accelerate smoothly as it use to, and only when once it picks up speed of say about 40km that it runs smooth, otherwise while driving from 0-40 or reversing it shivers. Please advice.

Check if the transmission is slipping-fluid level and condition if okay could be one of the following causing it to hesistate/stumble:

Oxygen sensor.
Catalytic converter.
Fuel injectors dirty/sticking.
Mass airflow sensor/Airflow meter.
Throttle position sensor.
Crankshaft position sensor
Knock sensor
Manifold absolute pressure sensor.
EGR Valve
Fuel pressure regulator leaking or defective fuel pump.
Fuel contamination.
Foul/defective spark plugs.
Open spark plug wires.
Ignition coil/Coil packs defective.
Incorrect ignition timing.
Cap and rotor.

Note:If it doesn't apply disregard it and keep testing
