As soon as I plug my brand new light switch in it makes a sizzle sound like it wants to short out. But when I plug the old switch back in its just fine. The reason for the new switch is cause my headlights wont raise or power on. My fogs and every other kight on the car work fine. Would not disconecting the negative on the battery have anything to do with the switch change? Please if you can help !

Leave the headlamp switch loose, but, connected to wiring connector. With headlamp switch on, do wires feel hot? Does the switch get hot? Maybe a faulty switch? You can check amp draw on any applicable circuit at the switch. If the circuit is fused protected, it should blow the fuse before it hurts anything?
