how do i replace the rear brake cylinder?

Have a 1998 sunfire and the sping block is keeping the cylinder from getting removed, should the hub assy be removed first?

Removal
Remove rear brake shoes. See REAR BRAKE SHOES . Disconnect inlet tube nut and line. Plug opening in line to prevent fluid loss and contamination. Remove hub and bearing assembly and move backing plate away from flange. See REAR AXLE HUB & BEARING ASSEMBLY . Remove wheel cylinder bolts and wheel cylinder.
