Engine Fan

What causes the engine fan to run at high RPMs in a 1998 mercury mystique? The thermostat in the engine was bad but after i replaced it,i noticed that the engine fan was running constantly at a high rate, and it never shuts off. What could be the problem??

Check the wiring to the temp sending unit to make sure nothing is shorted or damaged.

Let me know what you find.

Could be the high speed coolant fan relay is sticking or the PCM controlled circuit of the relay- try removing fuse no. 2 60amp and see what happens-
