Mazda Protege Alternator Problem

It's a 1.5l protege DX. I was driving and the drive/serpentine/alternator & water pump belt broke off. I replaced the belt. After a few minutes of replacing it, my battery indicator light came back on and smoke was coming out of the transmission fluid dipstick. What's going on? The belt is on correctly

If the serpentine is turning correctly, it means the alternator could have failed. Have the alternator tested.

Smoke from the transmission dipstick could mean the transmission is slipping and the fluids are overheating. The alternator not charging can cause this as the solenoids are not getting the correct voltage to work correctly.

You need to have the charging problem rectified first.
