my motor is acting up, bogs when I gas it and just jerks you around

I have a 98 4.0 Jeep Cherokee classic and it will run for 10 min and then start acting real funny. When you press on the throttle it bogs down and won't let you move it wants to shut off but it won't it just jerks you around Mike crazy. Please help it just acts real funky and it smells like it's burning
