Jaguar XJ8 Fuse Problem

I tried to start the car this morning, the engine turned over briefly and almost started, but then switched over to a hum. Now when I turn the key it just hums. It won't turn over or start.

sounds like dry cilinders, pull a plug and check compression, if its at 50 or less theres not enough to fire, remove all plugs, put about a teaspoon of tranny fluid in each cilinder, pull the fuse for fuel pump or fuel injectors, turn it over a few times to seal the rings and put back together reinstall fuses, should start now, it will smoke like hell until you burn the trany fluid out. good luck
