A mechanic said my front discs are glazed over?

No symptoms, brakes perform fine. I only took the car in for annual inspection. The mechanic was looking under my car with a flash light. Didn't even take the wheel off! Then he announced that my discs are "glazed over". When I asked him what that means he said, "they're glazed over! They need to be changed!" But made no effort to explain or show me anything, so I told him I'll have to bring it back Saturday, after I get paid.

Severe glazing will cause brake noises a lack of stopping power but if you are not experiencing that, don't be concerned with it until the pads need replacing.
