.What could cause knocking sound in front left?

Car has knocking sound in front left.....seems synchronized with wheel rotation and becomes much more pronounced when coasting with clutch in. CV joints seem good and boots remain sealed. Please help!

See if there is something stuck to the wheel or tire that can be heard as it strikes the ground or the underside of the car. Check for loose suspension components.

The description of the issue with the clutch in makes me believe an internal transmission/clutch issue.
