There has been a vibration in the stick shift that is silenced by resting my hand on the stick ****.

The new buzz or possibly whirring sound started today. It is intermittent. Depressing the clutch does not affect the sound. It only happens when the car is moving and the sound is directly related to the speed of movement and not the speed of the engine. It was louder when it first happened in first and second gear during a rapid acceleration and was mostly quiet in third gear. Putting pressure on the gear shift when the sound is present does affect the sound quality of the noise which is quite high pitched.
