The suspension is a system, not just a couple of parts Ford has way more trouble with steering and suspension parts so it's best to have the car inspected yearly at a tire and alignment shop. Ball joints and outer tie rod ends are the most important things to look at. They will also "read" the tire wear, and they know what to look more closely at when there are signs of abnormal wear.
The best diagrams are in the manufacturer's service manuals. They also list step-by-step instructions and there's a chart with critical torque specs.
