Is it ok to put a new caliper on one side and not the other. The piston broke on one side but the other side is in good condition.

I have one of the Haynes repair manuals and it says to replace calipers in pairs but i don't see what the big deal is. I can understand pads because one side might pull but calipers?

It is not necessary to replace them as a pair but if one is replaced, the other should be checked/serviced to ensure it works well to avoid braking efficiency difference.

Over here we do replacement with used units quite often so wonder how Haynes would recommend? lol.

Happy New Year.
