Engine knock

My oil light is on, my check engine light is flashing, the motor is knocking and it is surging or jolting real bad and doesn't want to stay running very well. What happened? I drove it to work and back and it was just fine.

Check your oil level and it kinda sound like from your description the motor has a rod bearing knock. Check oii pressure manually with a gauge.

It sounds more like lifters knocking. I don't have a gage to check it with.

Liftersdont knock check your oil immediately they clack

I checked the oil and only reads 1/2 a quart low.
