1998 Chevrolet Monte Carlo Ran Car Out Gas Put There Dollars Drive Half Mike

I ran the car out of gas, put in there dollars and drive half a mike it cut out and died. I put in there more drive about a mike and a half shit it off put in half a tank started it drive two blocks it cut out and died like no gas again. It was trying to start again but couldn't stay running. I took out the relay and the battery went dead now it will turn over but won't start
