I've owned the car now for 6 years and personally I've put aprox 100,000 miles on it. Twice I've had the head gaskets and manifold gaskets replaced. One of those times I did the manifold gasket myself.
Once again my lower intake manifold gasket is leaking. I've read a lot on how this is a chronic issue with my make and model and how Dexcool seems to be a problem in my engine. I know I must replace the gasket again however this time when I do a coolant flush should I replace Dexcool with regular coolant? Is that safe. I highly dislike replacing my gaskets every 2 years as it is costly and takes aprox 6 hours for a shop to fix or if I do it myself it takes longs as I am not a certified mechanic. Also is there a specific gasket set that is recommended for my vehicle?

GM had an updated gasket years ago with new style gaskets, new bolts along with different torque specs as well and that was the cure.

I did aftermarket gaskets with constant failures as well till I got the one from GM
