98 chevy lumina car 3.1 engine. Took the starter off but didnt label the wires, Does the orange cable go on the bigger stud then the purple one on the smaller stud. There is one cable left its black and it ran with the orange one from the battery but spits aways seperately halfway there: does this go on the same post as the orange cable? Thanks.

Good afternoon.

The battery cable positive goes to the big stud on the solenoid. The little purple wire goes to the solenoid terminal S.

There is no third wire.

Can you post a picture of what you see?

Roy

Mine broke off - car does not start since - insulation on 1/16 in dia wire is bluish-grey. Coming out of sleeve with other wires - but shows broken wire end - seems too short to reach the end of solenoid. But where does it connect to? 3 terminals there - giant one - Plus from batttery and out to someplace else. Brown wire abt 1/4 in dia goes to bottom front contact. Other contact in rear does not have wire to it but seems too far for the blue gray wire to reach. Dealer service said to hook up bluish wire to get car to start. WHERE to connect it?///I am on 950/mo disabiltiy - car was donated to me. So only gave $3. Sorry. Tnx - Lou

On the starter selonoid you should have one big bolt sticking out and two small one of the small should have a nut on it that is were that wire goes but the wire should have a ring connector attached to go over the small bolt and put nut back on just tighten snugg do not over tighten
