Drive 60 miles a week on surface streets.
I am looking at replacing the timing belt. I was told that the water pump has to be changed at the same time. My online research says for my year and either engine, the water pump does not have to be changes for a timing belt change because the water pump is driven by an external belt and not the timing belt. However, it would be convenient to change the water pump at the same time and not pay for the timing belt twice. My question does the water pump need to be changed for me to have the timing belt changed. Thank you
