some times when I start my 1997 Toyota Camry it makes a screetching noise then stops. Sounds like a belt but I have checked the belts.

most likely it's the alternator belt slipping! is it serpentine? they can look ok but they show wear different than v belt. the pulley eventually bottoms out in groves allowing slippage. after start alternator puts out full(increased drag) to compensate for battery drain for a little time then goes back to regular output? pretty common noise issue.
