1997 Toyota 4runner check engine light came on and idle is rough with a lot of smoke out the exhaust.

check for a leaking injector, faulty spark plug and ignition lead at the cylinder, a comp test will also be a good idea as well, start here.

idk yet but I'm afraid its a blown head gasket.

Have you checked the spark plugs and related components?

Do you have coolant losses issues?

Which engine do you have?

Have a compression test performed to see if they are within specs.
