Saturn SC2 Transmission Problem

I have a 1997 Saturn SC2. It has over 260,000 miles on it. I just heard a metallic crack or snap sound, and the spedometer stopped working, a the oil drained out of the engine. There is a puddle of black engine oil under the car right now. The clutch (it's a manual transmission) also feels strange, like metal-on-metal grinding when I shift. If I tried to drive it right now there is no telling how far I would get. I won't go anywhere by to a mechanic... buuuut, it's Christmas Eve and I'm at may folk's place 150 miles from home.

Are sure its not black transmission fluid?Sounds like the roll pin broke in your transmission diff and then the large pin that holds the spider gears together slid out of place and came thru the transmission case?Take a look under the car and see if I am correct?
