Jeep Grand Cherokee Axle Problem

How do I get the rear wheel hub off of my 97 Grand Cherokee 4WD. Tore my hub and bearing, need to get the hub off the axle. There is a circular piece in the center of the hub with two little nubs sticking out opposite each other that looks like it has to come off. Is there a special tool I need, and if not, how do I get that piece off? I have a Hayes manual but it was of no help.

The rear axles on a Dana rear end are extracted after the brake backing is out of the way and the retaining plate bolts are released, then the axles should slide out. The hub is the axle, they are not separate pieces.
