I have a 97 Grand Cherokee. I went through a water puddle at 40mph, the car immediately began making a clicking sound on the passenger side when the car was in motion and when it hit approx 40 mph a second clicking sound was heard inside the car under the automatic gear shift on the floor. After driving another 15 miles the car shutoff at a stop light and would not turn back on. No check engine light but the empty gastank light stays lit even after adding gasoline to the car. Any ideas?

Check to make sure the fuel pump is producing pressure. There are directions on our homepage under the DIY section. Also, check to make sure the pump is getting power if there is no pressure. Check the fuel pump relay. Start by checking to see if the engine is getting fuel. For directions, go to our homepage under DIY. Look up fuel pump pressure directions.
