1997 Jeep Cherokee Running Just Quit Running Will Turn Over Fire Does Smell

Jeep was running then just quit running. It will turn over but not fire. It does not smell like gasoline. It is probably NOT a fuel filter. If it is getting fuel but not firing what could it be?
