Is there a shim plate between the flywheel and the crankshaft?
The motor runs fine. the transmission shifts but the car doesn't move.

no, there is a washer on the other side and has no efect on your issue. it sounds like you have a failed pressure plate.

but i just bought a brand new one from napa yesterday. And i assembled with both the new pressure plate, as well as the old one, and neither works. is there any thing else you can think of?

Is the slave cylinder moving the throwout bearing at all??

Are the axle shafts installed correctly?
Was the transmission tested to be good?
