1997 GMC Suburban Repair Question

GMC Suburban Engine Problem

I hit the gas hard once and it began to knock. Oil level was low and the knocking is better but still there and I notice a loss of power and hesitaion that wasn't there before. Please help

The stress may have spun a connecting rod bearing. If so, the knocking will likely be picked up by the knock sensor, and in response, the Engine Computer will retard ignition timing. That would easily explain the loss of power. Your mechanic can verify that by observing the amount of timing advance being requested on a scanner that displays live data.
