1997 GMC Suburban Repair Question
GMC Suburban Engine Problem
The stress may have spun a connecting rod bearing. If so, the knocking will likely be picked up by the knock sensor, and in response, the Engine Computer will retard ignition timing. That would easily explain the loss of power. Your mechanic can verify that by observing the amount of timing advance being requested on a scanner that displays live data.
