1997 GMC Savana driver side power window

Fairly certain the lift motor is bad. Need to know if I have to take out the entire window regulator and "secure the sector gear" or can I simply swap out the old lift motor with my replacement lift motor

To be clear as I can be dense.

I can simply remove the old lift motor and put in the new lift motor? I do not need to take the whole regulator out and secure sector gear BEFORE removing the old lift motor?
