1997 Ford Thunderbird anti theft key

Under the dashboard on the driver side there is a what I heard called a anti theft key few years back someone tried to pick the door lock it set it off I had to take it to garage for it to be reset now its burned out I think cause it smells burnt the car wont start the garage said it has to be disasembled I was wondering if u could buy another one or if there a way to disasemble it myself its a 97 ford thunderbird

So do you have a pic of the anti theft key your talking about?Is the key a flat like circuit board type?

Ok here picture of it I still don't know what it is I've been told anti theft, overboard diagonist port, and that ford didn't put it on the car all I know is it has a burnt smell and sometimes my car won't start cause of it

That would be aftermarket they used to be called pro locks yrs ago. If the key looks like that then the socket it goes in is burned up also. Unfornately I can't give out info on how to remove any anti theft devices on cars. Its this sites policy to not do that. The info could fall into the wrong hands like people wanting to steal cars. So I suggest having the car towed to a shop for repair.
