1997 Ford Taurus Repair Question

Ford Taurus Brakes Problem
My mom got the brakes changed on my cart about three months before it broke down. Now we have it fixed and the brakes are squeaking horribly! They squeaked before but no where near as bad. I know that the brakes are not old nor the pads. How can I fix this and for how much. I'll take it to a mechanic.

Were the rotors resurfaced when the brakes were changed?What kind of pads were used?
