1997 Ford Taurus Changed Battery Now Connected Wont Shift Out Park Disconnected

I changed the Battery and now if the battery is connected it wont shift out of park. If I have the battery disconnected it shifts fine.
I can place it in nuetral, connect battery, start the car and it will shift into gear.
I thought it might be something with the anti-theft system?
Any suggestions.
