Why is my truck misfiring?

My 1997 Ford F150 is misfiring. I've replaced the spark plug on cylinder 6 to attempt a fix (it needed replacing anyway), but it did not work. It only misfires about half the time. It will run normally, then misfire, then run normally. Only misfires under engine load or at 55 mph around 1500-1700 rpm. Any idea as to the problem?

You don't replace one spark plugs becaus if it is bad, others would be too.
It could also be the ignition coil, wires or the EGR syatem. Have you checked for trouble codes?

No I haven't, my mechanic was out of town this past week. It has been misfiring for a few days now, but I have to have a vehicle. That's why I came on here, I don't have the equipment to read the fault codes.
