I noticed my rear wheel on my truck smells like something burning and the rim is very hot to touch.What could be causing this?

Brake stuck /check brakes
if have calipers in rear suspect hose
if drum check brakes and wheel cylinders

Ford has always had a huge problem with sticking parking brake cables. That is the place to start. Look at the front end of each rear cable where the cable comes out of the outer casing. If about the first half inch of the cable is shiny or cleaner than the rest of the cable, it is not fully retracted. Flexing the casing will often get the cable to release, otherwise they must be replaced.
