1997 Ford F 150 Get Truck Start Barely Wont Idle Keeep Rpms Around 4000

I can get my truck to start, barely.
It wont idle
If i keeep the rpms up around 4000 it smoothes out
Then it just quits
Pumping the daylights out of it SOMETIMES will get it to recover
I can here the fuel pump working when i turn the ignition on
