1997 F150 4x4 Drivers side window will not go down with switch - except with scan tool will go down with active commands. Switch window down inputs from switch are recognized by GEM per scan tool PIDS. Window will go up with the window switch. I am suspect of the GEM module.

Have you checked the switch itself?

I did check the switch with a test light and the tan/light blue and the gray wires are hot with 12v with the one touch/down button depressed - one is hot at the first click and both if the button is fully depressed. The light blue with black is hot at all times with the key on. The GEM is seeing the signals per the scan tool

Chances are the GEM is the problem. Check to see if there is evidence of water getting to it. There was a problem with a leaking windshield on these vehicles.

Without pulling the GEM I couldn't see any evidence of a leak. I just need to order it and install it to see what I end up with. I appreciate your input. I am also a technician. Thank You

Glad it's fixed. THe reason I asked if there were any leaks is because there were problems with the windshield leaking on to them and causing them to short.

There was no indication of any type of water leak underdash. No water spots on anything. I am very familiar with the TSB on this concern - (I saw this back when I worked at Ford). I am also an ASE Master Tech.
