Can someone please help, I have a 97 S10 6 clinder. It first started out not starting, made some checks and replaced fuel pump and filter. It ran fine for about a month. Then as I was driving down the road the tac went from 2400 rpms to 0 just like that, and my first thought is to pump the gas which I did and the truck started back and continue down the road. Got in it the next day and it wont crank. Spray starter fluid in carb and wont crank. The next day get in it and it fires right up. Distributor was a little out of spec so replaced it. The truck ran great for about 2 weeks and now it is starting to just die while driving down the road again. So far it will crank back up. The truck dosen't show any code errors.

The first thing I would check is fuel pump pressure. If you need directions, refer to our homepage under the DIY section. However, if it won't start with starting fluid, check to see if you are getting spark to the plugs.

Fuel presure is 64 and spark is fine. I it hasn't knocked off in two days. The last two day have been in the 60's and 70's. Could it be a crank shaft sensor over heating.

It could be the sensor, but I know there were problems with the spider (injectors) on these. Has the check engine light ever come on?
