BMW 740 Engine Problem
I have purchased 3 instrument clusters and have had basically the same issue with them.
1. When installed, the temperature gauge does not work but goes all the way to overheating.
2. The traction light comes on.
3. The RPM guage does not work.
What could be the problem?
Should the connection placement match as well?

your sender unit may be your issue with the temp gauge.
trac light indicates a problem that needs to be checked.
the tach may be a bad signal from the pcm.
get it checked by a shop to verify

No. The reason I am replacing the cluster is the readable display is pixelated

Have it scanned for codes. That'll answer the trac question.
If the temp gauge in multiple displays is reading hot, either the engine is overheating, the sensor is bad, or the PCM is giving or getting bad signals.
Check the connections in the tach circuit.

Doc, it seems to be a BMW 740. At least that's all I see.
