Please tell where is the oil pump is located on the audi a4 2.6 auto 1997
Oil light came on and i drained oil now want to check for leaks on pump

The A4 or the A4 Quattro? What size engine? Te oil pump is located inside the engine.

The oil light lighting usually means one of three things:
1: Oil level too low.
2: Faulty oil pressure switch.
3: Defective oil pump.

Oil pumps would not leak unless there is impact damages and you would not see anything if there is pressure leak. A pressure test would have to be performed.
How much oil did you drain out?
