1996 Volkswagen Jetta Repair Question

Volkswagen Jetta Coolant Problem

Jetta stated one day and was sqeeling realy bad and my coolant was frozen after thawing out the car it started over heating just don't no what is broke. The thermostat or the water pump

I would check them both. Frozen motors are not good to start.

1.8L or 2.0L

Depending on the setup, the pump is either driven by a V belt or a serpentine belt.

Are all the belts in place?
