Nissan Sentra Engine Problem

The car wouldn't start and I took it to a shop and the timing chain had jumped. what steps should be taken at that point? they took the head off but I'm hearing that wasn't necessary and just want to have my ducks in a row before I dispute what they are charging me.

I don't believe you have an interferance engine. If you did, the engine would have to come off. As far as the belt, it simply needed replaced.
