1996 , 6 cylinder. Mercury sable LS. slapping noise coming from under car when accelerating. No noise during idle or when gas is depressed while in idle. No effect to car performance. Sound like when a belt is slapping something while rotating. when driving and accelerating, a slapping noise comes from the bottom of the car. Slapping sounds like a belt hitting something but I checked all the belts. Exhaust has a popping sound which continues during slapping. Does not happen during idle and pressing down on gas. Just when car is running and accelerating. no noise while coasting.
