Mercedes Benz 200e Engine Problem

Top and bottom hoses are hard- is that normal? Radiator light on the dash comes on sometimes but no loss of water and the temp runs fine could this be the switch on the top of the rad housing or do i have pottential problems. No oil in water ect.........

When the engine warms up, pressure is built up in the radiator. As a result, the hoses get hard. If the engine is not overheating and there is no evidence of a leak, chances are you have a sensor that is bad. Make sure the overflow is full.
