Im thinking of buying a 1996 honda accord wagon with a 156k miles. The problem is it need an transmission filter. My questions are is the car worth buying and would the transmission give up anyways cause of the problem

if you have a trans guy replace the filter he could probably tell you that, due to fluid condition as well as pieces in the pan.

This vehicle does not have a transmission filter. A strainer is used and transmission has to be disassembled to replace.
Why do you say it needs a filter?
