Tranny,,shifter problems??
1996 gmc 4x4 with 5.7 just put in new transmission and new shifter cable,,,I'm having a hard time shifting down and it won't shift up??? any suggestions

If it is that tight, the linkage has to be either assembled incorrectly or binding. Recheck your work and try lubericating everything. Also, just for the heck of it, remove the linkage from the trans and make sure it shifts smoothly at the transmission. There could be an internal problem with the transmission.
