Which gasket do I use?

Have a '96 ford taurus g. 3.0 6 cyl. There appears to be a donut gasket between the pipe and the manifold, but the auto parts stores show only a flat type gasket. Will the flat gasket fit flush after removal of the donut or how would I find out which donut gasket I need to replace it?

Iam seeing the flat one as well for vin U I would try a couple of more auto parts store and then get one at the dealer if you have too. Those dough nut gaskets are usually reusable though.

Yeah, I can see the dough nut gasket in between, but I'm not sure if it's a welded piece. I don't feel any flat gasket above or below the dough nut. Would the dough nut be removed and then the flat gasket inserted in between and tighten the two bolts until everything is flush?

If you mean did I check the under side of where they manifold port and the beginning of the exhaust meet, then yeah, but I didn't see or fell the flat gasket.
I did some more checking last night and there seems to be two gaskets. An exhaust flange dough nut for this one and the flat one after the bend, right about the area of the firewall.
And, yeah it appears to be leaking. It's loud and you can smell exhaust.

Well, the other one that isn't leaking is the one that takes the flat gasket. The one in the engine compartment where the actual pipe and manifold meet is the one with the dough nut.
Even the dough nuts come with different sized tapers to fit correctly in between and I only have one vehicle, at the moment. I'll catch up with Ford this week and see what I can come up with.
You guys are great with getting back with your replies. I'll send everyone I can to www.2carpros. Com

Thank you for your praises please tell all your friends about us. One last thing I can suggest is to measure the size doughnut you need and try to find one that way. Otherwise best bet is to go to ford to get one.
