Is there any simple way to bypass a heater core on a 1996 Ford Taurus, I have to drive it 4 hours away to get home. Not enough money for a tow truck.

Disconnect one hose at the heater core connection at the firewall and disconnect the OTHER hose at the block where the 2 go in and come out. Take the hose you disconnected at the firewall and connect it to the block where you disconnected the OTHER hose. The OTHER hose will no longer carry fluid and the looped hose will bypass the heater core and run the fluid in and out of the engine block.

Another way is to disconnect the inlet and outlet hoses to the heater core and use stopper plugs to seal the two ports.
