Getting misfire cylinder #6

I was wondering what I should check went to autozone and had a check done on my car said misfire on number 6 cylinder and something about the map sensor. The car runs rough like it is missing especially at an idle in gear using a lot of gas want to fix it but dont know where to start was going to start with plugs then to wires then to cap and rotor cap pleae advise

Your progression sounds good. But you need to figure out why #6 is misfiring. It could be a bad conductor in the cap, a bad wire, or a bad plug.

Sorry it also said something about the map sensor not sure what it is or does or where it is located and how to test it

Manifold Absolute Pressure sensor. It detects the manifold vacuum and the pressure of the air entering the engine. It's on the air hose between the air filter and intake manifold. You can remove it and clean it. But don't touch it. A malfunctioning MAP sensor will cause the computer to either inject too much or not enough fuel.
