Ford Explorer Starter Problem

I noticed my transmission leaking fluid. i jacked up the car and noticed the fluid coming from the side of the starter. i took the starter off to buy a new one and it was tested and came out to be good. i put the starter back on and car will not start. I turn the key and it just makes a noise like if it wasnt hitting the fly wheel. please help

youll have to see if the flywheel has lost the teeth or maybe the solenoid on starter isn't engaging starter drive.
