I bought a 1.8 16valve ford escort the car was great until it started losing power whilst driving. The power loss became more frequent and the car started to struggle with idling and cold start. Someone suggested I check the MAF sensor and I found it was damaged. I replaced it and removed the batt terminal to reset computer. The problem hasn't gone and now when I unplug MAP sensor the car idles better.I unplug MAF sens. When MAP sens. Is unplugged and can hear immediate difference, so I know MAF is ok. Please help as I am thinking about setting fire to the car. I've also changed plugs and air filter and fuel filter. Cleaned and tested injectors.

First thing you have to do is scan for codes and check fuel pressure. In u.S. Here auto parts do for free. When you unplug maf sensor you are putting it in open loop so it will run ok but gas mileage will really be crappy.
